Maps can readily show the geographies in which an institution is marketing its services and making loans, and those geographies where it has no such presence. Maps can show a commercial bank's retail branch network, as well as their competitors' facilities. A HMDA reporter can create a map to display the office locations of their broker network, and identify neighborhoods in communities where they have no coverage. Housing, income, racial composition and other demographic information can be displayed together with lending data to help an institution better understand the characteristics of the geographies in which they are marketing their services and making loans.
